The History of the Event

Ed Krieger was a 20-year Veteran of the US Air Force who enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles with his wife, Barbara. He was also an employee at New Directions. For 18 years, Ed's influence reached nearly every New Directions program in the Southern Tier. His helpful nature encouraged families and children to trust. His upbeat, steady attitude conveyed hope and confidence, making him a natural Intake Coordinator. Ed's energy and enthusiasm inspired fellow employees; his relaxed and easy-going nature made him a friend to all.

When cancer took his life in 2011, a legion of friends and coworkers teamed up to hold an annual golf tournament in his memory. As the years went on, the Ed Krieger Memorial Golf Tournament became an event to remember many influential individuals who have had an outstanding impact on the youth we serve, like Ed did.

All proceeds from this annual event benefit New Directions youth.
