Partners in Parenting

Partners in Parenting provides two services:

Preventive Services: The goal of in home parenting support for preventive cases is to prevent foster care/out of home placements and/or support the successful transition home from foster care.

Supervised Family Time:  Our service providers with the family to ensure a successful reunification. We utilize a Coached Visitation Model which encourages communication at the beginning and end of the designated family time. During the designated family time, we encourage a positive environment to continue to strengthen the bond between family members.

During family time, we will encourage and model parenting techniques and strategies to be used to assist with behavior management including ways to manage difficult behaviors using positive discipline methods.

How we work:

• During parenting, we will encourage and model parenting techniques and strategies to be used to assist with behavior management including ways to manage difficult behaviors using positive discipline methods. Staff are trained in the nurturing parenting curriculum and will offer this to families.

• We will support and assist with linking family members to recommended services/assessments such as Mental Health or Drug and Alcohol use if needed.

• We assess children’s strengths and needs using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire and provide support in understanding child development.

• We help families create short term goals with the main goal of strengthening the family unit. Our program partners with the Department of Social Services to satisfy court menus when needed.

• The length of time in the Parenting Program is determined in partnership with NCDSS and the family. However we typically follow the six month preventive agreement with the Niagara County Department of Social Services.

• Our Parenting Program is voluntary and families may withdraw at any time. Communication with your
worker is highly encouraged.
